ABOUT

Alma Lee Lovins, MSW, LCSW
Hi, I'm Alma. Before I was a social worker, a consultant, or a business owner, I was a mom figuring it out one day at a time.
I am a mom of two neurodivergent children, and I homeschool them. I know what it's like to sit in a meeting where everyone seems to be talking about your child without really seeing your child. I know the stack of paperwork, the phone calls, the waiting lists, the late-night research, and the quiet worry that you might be missing something. I also know the joy, the humor, and the fierce love that come with raising kids whose brains and bodies work in their own beautiful ways.
Those experiences shaped my work. I started Divergent Care Solutions to give families the kind of support I wished we'd had: someone who knows the systems, speaks the language, and treats you as the expert on your own family.
I hold a Master of Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon, where I am newly licensed and now based in Veneta. I also hold an Ohio LISW. My work brings together advocacy, education, coaching, and licensed mental health therapy. Advocacy is still at the heart of everything I do. In therapy, I see children and teens ages 6 to 17, as well as adults, with a special focus on autism, ADHD, and developmental disabilities, and I also partner with schools, agencies, and organizations to build more inclusive, supportive programs.
My approach is neurodiversity-affirming. That means I don't see autism, ADHD, learning differences, or developmental disabilities as problems to be erased. I see people with real strengths, real needs, and the right to be understood, supported, and included.
What Guides My Work
- You are the expert on your family. I bring knowledge and tools; you bring the most important insight.
- Difference is not deficit. Support should fit the person, not force the person to fit the system.
- Caregivers matter too. Supporting a child means supporting the people who care for them.
- Plain talk, real plans. No jargon walls, just clear next steps.
My Support Squad
This work is a family affair. My biggest teachers and my biggest motivation live under my roof.
My Kids
My two neurodivergent children are the reason Divergent Care Solutions exists. They remind me every day that every child deserves to be seen for who they are.
"Care isn't just a service—it's a way of being."
