FAQ

Who do you work with?

We work with neurodivergent individuals, families of neurodivergent and medically complex children, caregivers, and the professionals and organizations who support them. Licensed therapy is available for children and teens ages 6 to 17 and for adults, with a focus on autism, ADHD, and developmental disabilities.

What's the difference between advocacy, coaching, and therapy?

Advocacy helps you understand and navigate systems like special education, so you can get the services and support your child needs. Coaching gives families ongoing, practical guidance and skill-building. Therapy is licensed mental health treatment that focuses on emotions, mental health, relationships, and well-being. Advocacy and coaching are not therapy. During your free consultation, we'll help you figure out which kind of support fits best.

Can I get advocacy and therapy from Alma at the same time?

Yes. Many families find it helpful to have one person who knows their whole story. Alma can support your family both as an advocate and as a therapist. At your free 15-minute consultation, she'll talk with you about how the two services stay distinct, what each one looks like, and which fits your family best right now, so you always know which kind of support you're getting.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth is available now for clients in Oregon and Ohio, for therapy and for our other services. Sessions use secure, HIPAA-compliant video. Therapy by telehealth is available to clients who are located in Oregon or Ohio at the time of each session. In-person sessions in Oregon are available by request (waitlist) while we finalize office space.

I live in Ohio. Can I work with you?

Yes. Alma also holds an Ohio LISW, so Ohio clients can work with her by telehealth, including therapy. In-person services are currently offered in Oregon only.

Where are you located?

We are based in Veneta, Oregon. In-person sessions in Oregon are available by request (waitlist) while we finalize office space. Telehealth is available now in Oregon and Ohio. For advocacy, Alma can also attend IEP and 504 meetings in person at your child's school in Oregon.

Do you take insurance?

We are private pay only and do not participate in insurance panels. For therapy, superbills are available. You can submit a superbill to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement; check with your plan about your out-of-network benefits. Advocacy, coaching, training, and consulting are private pay and are not billed to insurance.

Will I get a Good Faith Estimate?

Because we're a private-pay practice, federal law (the No Surprises Act) gives you the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of your expected therapy costs when you schedule or any time you ask, and you can dispute a bill that's at least $400 more than your estimate. To learn more, see our Good Faith Estimate notice or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?

No diagnosis is needed to get started. Whether you or your child has a formal diagnosis, suspects being neurodivergent, or simply knows something feels different, you are welcome here. We'll start with where you are.

Do you work with schools and organizations?

Yes. We offer professional development, leadership training, consulting, and custom mental health programs for schools, agencies, and community organizations.
